Fruittella

The challenge

Fruittella needed mums, specifically mums born in the eighties and nineties, who buy the sweets their kids eat and have a whole decade of their own summers to be nostalgic about.

The idea

Ask the kids of the nineties what they miss, then hand them a Fruittella.

The work

A street interview series at Rushden Lakes, fronted by Dani Harmer (Tracy Beaker), which for this audience is not a small thing.

There were eleven questions on the day. Two of them were mine: what's your favourite memory from your childhood summers, and if you were a fruit, what fruit would you be and why. The first gets people talking properly. The second gets the answer you actually use.

The approach was volume: interview as many people as possible, gather everything, find the good bits in the edit. Nobody was performing, which is why it works.

I filmed and edited the interviews. It was also Dani Harmer's first TikTok, which I shot.
